Free Library of Philadelphia

In 1891, the Free Library of Philadelphia was chartered as "a general library which shall be free to all." Since its establishment, the Free Library has grown to become a city-wide system that includes 49 branches, the Parkway Central Library, the Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped, and three regional libraries. The Free Library offers one of the country's most extensive collections as well as a series of educational programs, including adult education classes, author events, career services, after-school programs, and the Philadelphia Book Festival. With more than 6 million visits a year and 25 million Web hits a month, the Free Library is one of the most widely used educational and cultural institutions in the city.

Bartram's Garden

Bartram’s Garden, located along the banks of the Schuylkill River in Southwest Philadelphia, sparks curiosity, encourages lifelong learning, and inspires audiences of all ages to care for the natural world. The Garden and Bartram House are National Historic Landmarks operated by the John Bartram Association in partnership with the Philadelphia Department of Parks and Recreation.

John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge at Tinicum

The John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge at Tinicum is located in Philadelphia and Delaware Counties, Pennsylvania. Over the years, the refuge has become a resting and feeding area for more than 300 species of birds, 80 of which nest here. Fox, deer, muskrat, turtles, fish, frogs and a wide variety of wildflowers and plants call the refuge "home".

Drexel University
